Sporting Clays

Our sporting clay shooting course is designed within the scenic rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and with the avid wingshooter in mind. The sporting clays course sits at the base of Chalybeate Mountain and is a diverse combination of open fields and a natural canopy of southeastern hardwoods.

Fly Fishing

Orvis' approach to fly fishing instruction is known for its comprehensive nature, combining practical hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge. Whether through in-person classes, online resources or equipment guidance, Orvis aims to provide anglers with the skills and knowledge needed to enjoy and appreciate the art of fly fishing while promoting conservation and ethical fishing practices.

Pursell Farms has traditionally been dedicated to upland bird hunting, and Orvis Pursell Farms has a classic flair for what a traditional hunting club should be. Our extensive facilities include four upland fields for hunting pheasants and quail along with a traditional continental hunting area. Our duck-hole resides in a mix of flooded timber and open water offering the perfect wetland habitat for waterfowl game. The preserve hunting season runs October 15 to March 15. Make an appointment to tour the gun club. We are sure it will meet your highest standards.

In the middle of nowhere, but amazing

I have shot clay all around the country, but no one put the foo forward better than Orvis. Everyone from the shop staff to our trapper, first class! And the clay course is one of the best I have ever shot. It is challenging yet very accessible. Looking forward to returning soon!
