With more than 3,200 acres of rolling hills, oak and pine forests, native grasses, and fertile plantation land, our sporting amenities mingle a richness of antebellum tradition with a modern touch of design and class. ORVIS® at Pursell Farms has created a highly experiential shooting grounds that are sure to deliver an unparalleled sporting experience.
Sporting clays is one of the fastest growing sports in the Southeast. In fact, Orvis was responsible for introducing one of the first prototype sporting clays shooting courses at its shooting school in Manchester, Vermont.
Orvis hosts many outdoor enthusiasts who are in pursuit of an excellent clay shooting experience. The Pursell Farms shooting course is designed within the scenic rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and with the avid wingshooter in mind. The sporting clays course at the base of Chalybeate Mountain is a diverse combination of open fields and a natural canopy of southeastern hardwoods. Our course offers 15 uniquely designed stations which have been created to simulate a variety of true field shots from different hunting scenarios.

Recreation and leisure activities
Experience The Farm with a relaxing cruise around property in an E-Z-GO golf cart. Check-out at The Inn on a first come, first serve basis.
$40 per cart for 2 hours.

Pedal Boating Now Available! All guests staying at The Farm receive a complimentary hour of pedal boating included in their resort fee. Enjoy the serenity of Lake Christine while gently burning a few throw-away calories. Boats can handle up to 5 guests per boat.
Let these electric bikes do the work for you as you cruise and zip around the property! With speeds up to 20 mph, you can bike effortlessly over hills and roads or take a more leisurely ride and pedal yourself. Check-out at The Inn on a first come, first serve basis.

Pedal across moderate terrain on our bike paths as you take in the sights of The Farm. From the pristine waters at Jimmy’s lake to sweeping mountain views, biking offers a great option to stay in shape while enjoying the surrounding nature. Trail maps are available at the front desk. Bikes are complimentary to resort guests.
Whether you choose an early morning run before your meeting or a late-afternoon stroll, our walking and running trails offer almost 3 miles of scenic, panoramic farm views. Complimentary Access Maps available at the front desk.
Take your best shot on the bocce ball court located outside The Inn. Whether you decide to play as a couple or with a group of friends, bocce ball encourages a round of friendly competition. Complimentary access for all guests staying on property.
Relax by the pool and catch some rays on the sun deck while taking in the expansive view of Hole No. 18. Complimentary access for all guests staying on property. No lifeguard on duty.
